Chinese painting and calligraphy on bamboo and rice paper, painted in the UK by myself.
With imprints of stone seals carved by myself: one bears my name, the other one is "Ink Fun". Signed and dated in Chinese.
Inspired by Wang Wei's (Tang Dynasty poet) poem Niao Ming Jian 鳥鳴澗, I created this little piece to express my understanding of this zen poem.
Niao Ming Jian 鳥鳴澗 "The Warble Ravine" --by Tang Dynasty Wang wei
人閒桂花落: Osmanthus flowers fall by the side of the idle poet;
夜靜春山空: Vague hills dissolve into night void;
月出驚山鳥: The moon-rise startles birds to sing;
時鳴春澗中: Their twitters fill the dale with spring.
The calligraphy is in Lishu Clerical script on the painting.
Because the limited space, I only wrote the 3rd line of the poem, which is
月出驚山鳥: The moon-rise startles birds to sing.
