Chinese brush painting (sumi-e) in Brighton, UK
This is an original Chinese painting, or sumi-e art. Hand painted on Xuan rice paper in freshly ground natural ink and mineral colours.
Signed, dated and stamped with a stone seal carved by myself which bears my name.
Painted in my home studio, Plum Blossom Ink Art.
This fine art is a re-work of Song emperor Hui Zong's painting "Yellow Plum Blossom with Two Birds"臘梅雙禽圖.
The original painting was painted on silk and now has been collected in Sichuan museum. It is one of the highest fine art in Chinese painting history.
As you can see, the two birds are facing each other though one is moving while another one is stable to create a good balance.
The pine tree and yellow plum blossom branches are in the perfect composition. The two are called winter friends.
The calligraphy work is written in the style of Emperor Huizong's "Slender Gold script".
Emperor Huizong invented the "Slender Gold script" (瘦金體) style of calligraphy. The name "Slender Gold" came from the fact that the emperor's writing resembled gold filament, twisted and turned.
I believe this subtle will add its mysterious and oriental beauty while harmony, calmness and peace to any room in your home. This is NOT a print or a reproduction, this is my original artwork.
