Chinese brush painting (sumi-e), painted by myself in Brighton, UK.
This is a live demo painting when I was teaching my zoom students in September 2022.
In China, heron is a symbol of good fortune because "heron" (lu 鹭） and "good fortune" (lu 祿） are pronounced the same.
This is an original Chinese painting, or sumi-e art, depicting peonies. It is hand-painted on semi-treated single Xuan rice paper, using Chinese natural inks and mineral-based natural colors.
The calligraphy is in half cursive script which means “the feeling that autumn brings.”
It is signed, dated, and stamped with stone seal that I personally carved, which is my full name.
Painted in my home studio in Fiveways, Brighton, Plum Blossom Ink Art.
The original painting has been backed with mulberry paper, mounted then framed.
Dimensions of the original art: 20cm x 30cm, or 8" x 12".
Dimensions in mounted : 33cm x 43cm, or 13" x 17".
Packaging: The artwork will be sent in a well-protected package.
