Join artist Jing Wang for a rare and rewarding experience learning the traditional Chinese wet mounting (托裱) technique — an ancient skill used for centuries to mount and preserve Chinese ink paintings and calligraphy. This will be a truly lifetime skill for anyone passionate about Chinese art and craft.

In this hands-on workshop, Jing will guide you through each stage of the classical mounting process — from preparing and pasting the back paper, to smoothing, drying, and finishing the mounted work. You’ll learn how to handle Xuan paper (rice paper) with care and precision, and discover the artistry and patience behind this essential traditional craft.

This method is the same as that used in Chinese studios to mount paintings into scrolls or album pages, and helps preserve the artwork for decades. You’ll mount a small painting or calligraphy piece of your own (or use a provided one), and take home a beautifully finished work ready for framing or display.

All materials and tools are provided, including traditional mounting paper, paste, brushes, and drying boards. No prior experience is needed — this workshop welcomes both beginners and experienced painters wishing to deepen their understanding of traditional Chinese art techniques.
