This calligraphy artwork was written with Chinese brush in running script. The butterfly was painted in the combination of abstract Xieyi and fine drawing Gongbi styles.
The calligraphy itself looks just like a dancer.
Running script had already been formed in the late Eastern Han Dynasty and reached its prime in the early Jin Dynasty. Its style moderates between regular script and cursive script: it is more free-flowing than the orderly regular script while more easily recognised than the spontaneous cursive script. It was thus widely used.
This little art is perfect for someone who loves elegant flowing activities such as dancing, Taichi (太極拳 taijiquan) or yoga.
