Vibrant Daisies - Chinese Brush Painting

I've always been captivated by the vibrant energy of daisies, especially those found in the South Downs near where I live. These cheerful flowers, with their bold presence and upright stance, exude happiness and vitality. The phrase "fresh as a daisy" perfectly captures their essence, symbolising rejuvenation and vigour. Just like daisies, we often feel revitalised and invigorated after rest or self-care.
To create a 3D effect, I painted it from both the front and back. And to bring each petal to life, I employed Chinese calligraphy brush stroke techniques, primarily using half cursive and cursive scripts.
Materials:
- Medium: Chinese ink and mineral pigments on semi-treated Xuan rice paper (半生宣)
- Backing: Mounted on mulberry paper
- Framing: Bespoke oak frame painted in deep green, beautifully done by our local amazing frame artist Tim

- Signed, dated, and stamped with stone seals carved by myself. One seal bears my name, and the other represents meditation.
- Created using traditional materials with a contemporary twist, incorporating Western oil painting techniques.
Exhibition: This work is displayed at Venue 1，Jane Palmer and Friends in Fiveways Trail as part of the AOH artists exhibition during the Brighton Festival.
