Chinese brush painting (sumi-e), painted by myself in Brighton, UK.
Inspired by the peony flowers in my garden this spring, I created this beautiful piece for the Brighton Artists Open House exhibition AOH2023.
This is an original Chinese painting, or sumi-e art, depicting peonies. It is hand-painted on gold flake single Xuan rice paper, using Chinese natural inks and mineral colors, in the Lingnan style, which incorporates more colors than the traditional approach.
It is signed, dated, and stamped with stone seals that I personally carved. Two seals bear my first name and surname, and another one symbolizes best wishes.
Painted in my home studio in Fiveways, Brighton, Plum Blossom Ink Art.
The original painting has been backed with mulberry paper and then framed in a bespoke oak frame.
Dimensions of the original art: 33cm x 66cm, or 13" x 26".
Dimensions in the bespoke oak frame: 40cm x 74cm, or 16" x 29".
This artwork is currently on display at venue 17, Delicious Delights, in the Fiveways Trail as part of the AOH artists' exhibition during the Brighton Festival. Click here to find out more.

This is NOT a print or reproduction; it is my original artwork.
