Oriental Elegance - Chinese Brush Painting

Inspired by the peony flowers in my garden this spring, I created this beauty at my home studio in Fiveways, Brighton, Plum Blossom Ink Art.
This is an original Chinese painting, or sumi-e art, depicting peonies. It is hand-painted on gold flake single Xuan rice paper, using Chinese natural inks and mineral-based natural colours. The style is inspired by Ming dynasty artist Xuwei, incorporating cursive script calligraphy skills and primarily using inks. In this painting, the artist used titanium white to create the flowers.
The calligraphy is in the cursive script of Tang dynasty monk Huaisu.

書法: 唐代懷素法師的草書。
It is signed, dated, and stamped with stone seals that I personally carved. Two seals bear my first name and surname, and another one represents meditation.

- Medium: Chinese ink and mineral pigments on gold flake single Xuan rice paper
- Backing: Mounted on mulberry paper
- Framing: Bespoke beautifully in natural oak, by our local amazing frame artist Tim

Features:

Exhibition History: This work was displayed at Venue 6 Delicious Delights in Fiveways Trail as part of the AOH artists exhibition during the Brighton Festival. It garnered much attention and is now available for purchase.
