Chinese brush painting (sumi-e), painted by myself in Brighton, UK
Inspired by the peony flowers in my garden this spring, I painted this beauty for Brighton Artists Open House exhibition AOH2023.
This is an original Chinese painting, or sumi-e art in another word of Peonies. Hand painted on gold flake single Xuan rice paper, with Chinese natural inks and mineral based natural colours, in Ming dynasty artist Xuwei's style which the artist use cursive script of calligraphy skills and mainly in inks to write the painting. Here the artist created the flowers in titanium white.
Calligraphy in Tang dynasty monk Huaisu's cursive script.
Signed, dated and stamped with stone seals carved by myself which two bear my first name and surname, and another means meditation.
Painted in my home studio in Fiveways Brighton, Plum Blossom Ink Art.
The original painting has been backed on mulberry paper, and then framed in bespoke oak frame.
Dimension of the original art : 33cm x 66cm, or 13" x 26"
In bespoke oak frame: 40cm x 74cm, or 16" x 29"
